A British woman, aged 28 years, remains in what doctors described as ‘very critical’ critical condition following a mystery incident in her Hotel Pool where she almost drowned.
The unnamed woman was staying in the smart 4 star Ebeso Hotel on Ramón Muntaner Street in Figueretes, on the outskirts of Ibiza Town.
The event occurred at 18.42 hours for reasons that remain a mystery.
An Advanced Life Support ambulance and a Basic Life Support ambulance attended the scene, where paramedics proceeded to undertake CPR for an extended time. The paramedics finally managed to recover spontaneous circulation, according to the Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera.
Subsequently, the woman was transferred to Can Misses Hospital at 9:00 pm where she was admitted to the ICU in very critical condition.
Update: We are very sorry to report that the UK press have reported that after two days in ICU the woman lost her fight for life.
Nine drowned in Ibiza and Formentera
According to Europa Press, a total of 22 people have died through drowning in the Balearic Islands between January 1 and August 31, 2018, 8.8% of the country’s total. In the Pitiüses at least nine people have died from drowning, two of them in pools.
According to the National Drowning Report of the Royal Spanish Salvage and Lifeguard Federation, since January 1, 2018, 251 people have died of drowning in Spain, which is 126 less than those registered in the same period up to August 2017.
