Music For Dreams has announced a series of parties at Las Dalias hippy market in Ibiza this summer. The first event, on Thursday 28th July, features a live concert by The Brand New Heavies, pioneers of the acid jazz scene in London in the eighties and nineties. We talked to the two bang up to date old timers who share a love of the past with all things contemporary.

Hot to Trot – Balearic Day 1st March

The Trot races are a great family day out event, and for those fancying a flutter the on course betting is a simple enough affair, just pick your favourite colour/horse/name a wager a few euros. The course has on site catering and for the meeting on Tuesday 1st the celebrations are to be extended with a craft/hippy market.

Carnaval! What, Where & When 2016

It’s carnival time again! The main towns in Ibiza celebrate carnival (‘carnaval’ in Spanish or Mardi Gras as it’s also known in other parts of the world) with a parade. It is the festive season that takes place before Lent in many countries and is usually characterised by a celebration and parade through the streets before the seriousness of fasting or giving up of something for Lent begins. It might not rival carnival in Rio, but it’s taken very seriously in Ibiza.

Tulp.. Tulip.. Tulipan.., a tulip by any other name …

It is relaxed but stylish, cool without trying too hard, it has the high tables, typical of a Dutch bar that encourage communication instead of TV gawking, it has an interesting but unpretentious menu, it has every type of seating possible from hammock to sofa to dining to oil drums. All of these quirks come together to make it a special place, one of that limited number of places that you have a certain mood for.
