A 26 year old man is in a coma in the Intensive Care Unit of Can Misses hospital after being attacked at a cash point on Tuesday 27th August.
Gavin Roberton from East Ayrshire was on a stag do with friends and was due to fly home the following morning when he was randomly attacked at a cash point. His mother, Kirsty McMaster told the Scottish Daily Record that her son was at a cash point when a male approached him from behind, punched him in the side of the head before running off, “one punch put my son in a coma”.
Gavin sustained a fractured skull as well as bruising and bleeding on his brain.
His mother Kirsty and her sister Paula have travelled to Ibiza to be at her sons bedside. Gavin is currently in a stable condition, however the extent of his injuries are unknown at present.
A Facebook fundraising page has been set up. As is the case for many young travellers, Gavin did not have travel insurance.
