They know a good deal about community spirit in Santa Gertrudis, or Gerts to their friends, so the annual Santa Gertrudis Fiestas are a great place to get a taste of real Ibiza winter feel.
Below the full fiesta programme, but before that a quick run through of some highlights.
Friday 16th November is the Day of Santa Gertrudis. The mass at 12 noon is followed by a procession and ball pages folk dancing in the main square. The evening party starts at 8.15pm and culminates with the Soul Doctors performing live in the main tent.
Saturday 17th 4pm the Spartan strength competition running until late evening at the town football fields. Participants battle it out for title of town Spartan through an obstacle course, plus in true Ibiza fashion DJ Javi Box playing some Spartan tunes – probably minimal then :-).
Also Saturday 17th from 9pm, La Movida ‘80s and ‘90’s party in the town square tent.
Sunday 19th 10.30am in the main tent, international gastronomy event, featuring local dishes along with food from Paraguay, Dominican Republic, Ukraine and the Philippines
24th November Sobrasada races, a 1km race at 5pm followed by a 21km race. It’s not sausage racing you understand – but we imagine sausages will be making an appearance. There will definitely be sausages in the tent on the same day from 10.30 with all manner of local delicacies in a tasting session, followed by a market and wine competition.
