Mint Lounge is a gorgeous gem of a place nestled next to Mambo on San Antonio's sunset strip. Open from midday, it's the perfect place to enjoy a lazy lunch or sip on one of their delicious cocktails on the wood decked terrace and gaze across the sparkling Mediterranean sea as a gentle breeze drifts in and warm sunshine soothes your soul.
Jacaranda lounge is a sprawling white haven atop the cliffs in Es Canar, stylishly fitted out in Asian influenced white bali beds, pallet furniture, thatched cabanas, sunbeds and tables and dominated by an azure blue pool overlooking the glittering Mediterranean sea.
Stevie D’s has, to the best of our knowledge, been the only venue in Ibiza serving the full English breakfast and Traditional Sunday Roast all winter long. For that alone they deserve a round of applause, just for being there, for fulfilling that expat need to cure the hangover, or get that special Sunday feeling, in the best ways we know how, come rain, wind or lucky as we are here normally shine.
The atmosphere at Villa Mercedes is a unique combination of upmarket yet friendly, cool yet welcoming and bustling yet calm. It's long been our go-to destination for a romantic dinner or celebration and is the first place we recommend to visitors looking for a special place at which to eat out.
Futura Lounge Bar and Grill was rapidly becoming a favourite of mine even before I ate there on Sunday due to the family friendly environment, great prices and fantastically warm and welcoming hosts Dave and Nikki - also very talented musicians who have no ego and are happy to get up and entertain or to sit and jam with their punters.
A truly refined and memorable supper for those who worship taste and quality above all else. I noticed a plaque with Madonna’s La Isla Bonitas lyrics whilst walking around the hotel. No wonder she reportedly changed them from San Pedro to Ibiza during her recent visit. This is where I long to be, La Isla Bonita.
As we were enjoying the afternoon you couldn't help but notice the succession of puddings pass by to other less patient patrons. Apple Pie created with an outlook of ‘now that’s an apple pie’. Syrup Sponge Pudding smothered in creamy custard that had been created with an outlook of ‘now that’s a childhood memory’.
Never yet has the ridiculously good value menu—13.50€ for three courses—failed to live up to expectation, and nor did it today. But remember, this isn’t one to put on the wish list—you only have until October 31st to get along before the shutters come down. The menu changes weekly, so that’s 2 menus left. Be kind to yourself, try them all, it’s been a long hard summer and you’ve earned it.
Donnegans has been a San An Bay institution for many a year. 15 years in fact. I know that because I went down to the anniversary celebrations this week just gone for what is known in Irish circles as Craic. For those who are unaware of Donnegans and why it is an institution, I’ll give you all a little background.
Just how good does that look? And in addition to the quality cooked ham, salamis and top quality cheeses including Manchego, Stilton and some sumptuously soft Brie, the Relish-ness came by way of a red onion marmalade, salsa, mozzarella and sundried tomatoes, olives, bread and ali-oli.
With its stylish French-Italian cuisine David’s Restaurant/Pizzeria located in the heart of San Antonio is always a popular choice for those in the know. David’s has been consistently ticking all the boxes for the last two decades—great food, excellent service, a lively atmosphere and prices that never dent the wallet too badly.
It seems that the whole western world is getting a little health conscious lately, and Ibiza is no exception. You only have to look at the excessive amount of gym bunnies in swimsuits and musclebound lads in their little orange shorts to see how important it has become to look good.
Just a few hundred metres north along the coastline you’ll find the laid back area of Cala des Moro which has exactly the same sunset, albeit from a slightly different angle, and far less hustling and bustling. Head up the wooden steps by the promenade and you’ll then find Kasbah, an Ibiza institution that has been providing fresh quality food and drinks to ‘those in the know’ for the last couple of decades.
