A run down of the Ibiza New Year’s Eve public parties taking place in Ibiza and Formentera New Year’s Eve 2017, onto New Year’s Day 2018.

Anybody spending their first new year in Ibiza may need a bit of grape guidance if they are not to be alone in failing to give themselves the advantage of good luck going into the new year.

So the Spanish tradition goes, a grape is eaten for each chime of the bell at midnight, representing the 12 months of the year and giving good luck for the year to come.

Remember that most shops will be closed at lunchtime, and you’ll be hard pushed to find seedless so don’t choke or you’re in for a lousy February.

The first municipality to get the party going, Ibiza Town’s New Year’s Eve party kicks off at 9pm on the plaza del parque.

There will be a brief halt in the music to cheer in the new year, and then the dancing continues into New year’s day, think late to very late.

The celebrations in San José are centred around the marquee which is situated slap bang in the main town centre.

The party starts at 12.30a.m. with live music from Ibizans Canallas del Guateke, with their versions of party themes from the 60’s and 70’s. San José promises the opportunity to dance til the first dawn of 2018.

In Sant Antoni the fun will begin after the last of the 12 grapes have been consumed, which is midnight for those new to the Spanish grapes tradition.

The party is in the marquee by the fountains and Bluesmafia will be providing the music alongside all manner of festive fun.

Santa Eulària has scheduled two parties for the first dawn of 2018 and the two begin at 12.30a.m.

The first will take place at Punt Jove, with disco music the party theme.

The second party will be held in the community hall at the Puig d’en Valls football fields, also with DJs to see you through to the new year in style.

The party in Formenterra is scheduled a little later, starting at 1am in the Sant Ferran tent.

The music will be provided by Tremendos, the highly regarded Catalan group with a special set of Catalan classics alongside international rock classics from the likes of AC / DC to Guns’n’Roses.
