Ibiza and Formentera have been experiencing some pretty grim weather for several days.

According to Spanish weather agency AEMET, it is about to get a whole lot worse.

The main blight over the weekend has been rainfall which has overwhelmed drainage systems. The deluge and high winds have also resulted in downed trees, walls etc, causing traffic problems throughout the islands.

At 9pm Monday evening AEMET upgraded the yellow alert status to orange, and predict the worst of the coming weather will hit us anytime until 6pm Tuesday evening.

The orange alert is designated to the entire of Ibiza and Formentera.

Conditions predicted include up to 70% chance of:-

Storms reaching Gale Force 7 to 8 with waves of up to 4 metres. (we know that seems mad for Ibiza, but we did double check – definitely stating up to 4 metres)

Winds gusting at up to 80kph

The weather agency then predict still bad conditions for the rest of Tuesday with any storms subsiding down to yellow alert until midnight.

Wednesday is predicted as being clear and back into the green,
