A free webinar has been announced that promises to help Ibiza property owners, specifically holiday rental owners and agents, Airbnb hosts and property investors, navigate the latest legal changes affecting holiday rental properties in the Balearic Islands.

Organisers Spain-Holiday.com are aiming to help those property owners affected by the 2017 changes in legislation that affect property rentals throughout the Balearic islands.

Explaining the reasons for the webinar, the Spanish holiday property portal said, “As Spain and its tourism industry celebrated breaking record levels of tourists, at a local level, residents decided that the situation had become intolerable and was negatively impacting their way of life with a type of tourism gentrification that is forcing residents out of the central city properties which were being offered for rent in the more lucrative short term rental market, than the long term one.

“As a result, the local government has introduced and implemented several new laws to limit tourism and resolve the problem of “over tourism” on the Balearic Islands, with further proposed measures.”

The webinar will take place on Thursday 22nd March at 12:00 CET. The 30-minute presentation, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session, is aimed at holiday rental property owners, holiday rental agents, Airbnb hosts and property investors in the Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Current legal requirements for holiday rental properties
  • Tourist rezoning areas
  • Tax and insurance obligations
  • Looking ahead: Proposed measures for a sustainable future in tourism
