We love Cala Llonga …

Lovely sheltered sandy beach, gently shelving waters, child friendly with plenty of things to do, but it is more than that….

Cala Llonga has an incredibly strong community spirit, reflected by their Viva Cala Llonga team who put on a fantastic programme of events, hippy markets, music and their regular Sunday night beach cinema.

With their own fiesta underway, we thought it time for a round up of what’s on to supplement the information published in the newspaper.

Cala Llonga Hippy Market

From Viva Cala Llonga …

“The Cala Llonga Hippie Market runs along the promenade every Thursday from 6pm to midnight during the months of May to October.
The stalls are run by a talented group of artisans, most of whom make their own merchandise right here on the island.
Choose between unique jewellery, floaty summer clothing, hand-made signs, hand-painted stones, bags, Ibiza T-Shirts and more!
This open air market is the perfect place to find souvenirs to take home, enjoy an evening stroll under the stars, bump into Cala Llonga locals and listen to live music on a regular basis throughout the summer season.
Parking is free and we encourage you to use the large, open-air parking area just minutes away.”

Viva Cala Llonga

Here is what Viva Cala Llonga say about the bay they love so much

“On the eastern coast of Ibiza sits Cala Llonga Bay, surrounded by pine clad hills sloping gently into the beautiful sandy cove below.
Its famous blue flag beach, with soft cream coloured sand and shallow entry into the sea, makes it a perfect and safe place for families with children or couples looking to relax.
Cala Llonga beach also has a registered PADI diving centre and access for the disabled.
Just 20 mins from Ibiza airport and 15 mins from Ibiza Town, Cala Llonga is an ideal hub from which to explore the island’s day and night life.
Cala Llonga boasts a fine selection of restaurants and bars, serving ice cool drinks, cocktails, traditional Spanish and International cuisine, in addition to quality souvenir shops and boutiques.
If you are visiting in the cooler months there are several marked walks from Cala Llonga through the pine woods and hills. Walking trips across the island can also be arranged.
Day and evening entertainment in Cala Llonga includes a traditional Hippie Market every Thursday between May and October, free live weekly music throughout July and August plus a special free entertainment event each month.
Cala Llonga is your ideal holiday destination, the perfect location for your wedding
and a great place to celebrate a special occasion”

a bit of it anyway.

Eat, Drink, Swim, Repeat.

The Mariposa, set in the hills behind the village, affords excellent views of the bay below, but also a very warm welcome, excellent food (worth saying that again, excellent – and annoyingly writing this had made me want a bacon, brie and avocado toasted sandwich), and the chance to cool down in their pool.
