San Antonio’s Sant Bartomeu Fiestas

A full programme of the fiestas is available from the San Antonio website, however for most people the two highlights are the spectacular firework display at midnight on the 24th August and the annual Romans V Carthaginians fiesta on Friday 2nd September from 6pm-2am including the inauguration of the fiesta with kids events, music, and DJ’s building up for the main event of the pitched tomato battle on Saturday 3rd September 2016.

The fireworks can be seen from most coastline areas from San Antonio and the Bay of San Antonio and those wanting frontline views of men in skirts throwing vegetables at each other  need to take their positions on the S’Arenal beach promenade.

Fireworks 24th August

Many of the waterfront bars and restaurants in the bay will have special dinners on the night of Sant Bartomeu.

  • Tulipan (Tulip)

The S’Arenal beachfront chic and chill ambience we love at Tulipan, is a great setting and on the night of Sant Bartomeu they are taking bookings for their prime frontline seating areas. A minimum spend of 100€ will get you comfy couches from which to watch the display, and between a few people that really is no money at all.  For bookings

  • Villa Mercedes

Villa Mercedes are offering their regular and always excellent range of set and a la carte menus and will also be providing live music to add to the fiesta feeling. One of the great advantages of Villa Mercedes is that their stepped terrace affords plenty of unobstructed viewing positions but we would still advise to book ASAP

  • Rio

Rio are San Antonio’s newest well-dressed kid on the very stylish marina block, and they have chosen the night of the fireworks for the official opening of their rooftop terrace which is bound to be a spectacular setting and in effect offering you two parties in one. With the opening of the rooftop it will be the first night that Rio can be seen in all of its glory and as a very welcome addition to the San Antonio scene, it is getting rave reviews from everybody that has visited for its food, music, arts and other events.

  • Rooftop Nine

Another new addition for 2016 is Rooftop Nine. As the name suggests, it’s the rooftop terrace of Sol House Ibiza Rocks hotel which opened this year following a multi-million euro refurbishment of the previous well known Pint Playa hotel. With 360 degree views, Rooftop Nine has to be up there as one of the very best viewing positions.

Julian Lennon Photos @ STK

  • Marina Botafoch
    • Claire B

There’s an exhibition of photos by Julian Lennon (son of John Lennon and his first wife Cynthia) at restaurant STK in the Hotel Corso. Entitled ‘Photographies’ the exhibition runs until September 4. Though primarily known as a singer-songwriter, musician and producer, Julian Lennon has grown to encompass many talents, including those of documentary film producer, philanthropist and, as of late, fine-art photographer. Julian has always felt that he has observed life differently, perhaps because his path through life has been so unusual. Nothing could be more apparent, as he reveals to the viewer his keen eye for composition and his gift for capturing an intimate moment. For the very first time in Ibiza, this series of photographs originates from his 2011 album Everything Changes. In each print, layered images are captured within the shape of a butterfly, a symbol of soul and transformation, that slowly uncover lyrical and fragile, intimate compositions. A philanthropist from an early age, a portion of the proceeds from the exhibition will go to The White Feather Foundation, the global environmental and humanitarian organization founded by Julian in 2007. The Foundation focuses on education, health, conservation and the protection of indigenous culture as well as partnering with organizations from around the world to raise funds for the betterment of all life and to honour those who have truly made a difference. Until September 4 during opening hours, 20.00-03.00.

Ibiza Sonica 10th Anniversary at Kumharas

  • Cala de Bou

Ibiza Sonica Radio are marking their 10th anniversary with a party which will take place on Friday August 19th at Kumharas Ibiza, from 11 a.m to 12 p.m.

They tell us there will be live streaming for those unfortunate enough not to be able to make it to the event, but for those that can, food, DJ`s, surprises and “everything you would expect from a 10 years celebration” is promised.

Worried by the ambiguity of ‘everything you would expect’ we put the most important question to Sonica Director Andy Wilson – that being, will there be Birthday Cake?

In a flustered response, a clearly off-guard Andy replied, “Er, I don’t know, you are the only ones to ask. Do you like cake?”

And so there you have it, on which basis we would consider the chances of ‘pass the parcel’ to be minimal. But we’re going anyway.

Babylon’s Full Moon Party!

After the success of the last Full Moon Party – this month we will be offering two seatings in the chiringuito for dinner – the first seating will be at 19:00 – 21:00 and the second will be from 21:00.

As usual, we will be planning a fun filled night, with our resident DJ’s George Solar & Willie Graff spinning their funky fresh tunes, as well as live music from Paul Powell & Hot Ice Ibiza who will be performing in our restaurant mid-evening.

Antonio Martinez Flyboard -The Bull will keep you entertained with his impressive Fly Board tricks, you can capture the evening with friends in the Photo Booth Ibiza & In Your Dreams will be on site to glitz & glam you up!

We will have a delicious Soul Food menu with cocktails to match!

Reservations highly recommended after last month was a sell out!
