This summer is big on chunky, funky jewellery to enhance your swimwear. I’ve come to the table with some affordable high street and independent designer bits and bobs. I also stumbled across some chronic beach disasters that you should steer well clear of …
Remember when a trip to the beach was all about fun? Badly played volley ball with no idea of the rules or burying a family member up to their necks in the sand and running off into the distance without even looking back? Seems like those innocent days have gone as everyone is consumed by ‘body image paranoia’. What with the rise in selfies, everyone is obsessed with their appearance – especially on the beach. The sudden rise in Budgie Smugglers and ‘banana hammocks’ for men (thanks Towie) is particularly frightening, especially if you’re hung like a Peruvian donkey, which those boys aren’t. Anyway, less isn’t always necessarily more. When it comes to tiny swimming costumes, I’m pretty sure nobody wants to see ‘half ounce of old holborn’ poking out the sides of bikini bottoms or anyone chewing cotton as they squelch over to get a glass of Rose… “Pull it out love, you’re touching cloth.”
Nobody does beach chic as effortlessly as Kate – especially in Ibiza. So, let’s take tips from her and keep it classy San Antonio. Wherever you end up this summer, I hope you find these fashion finds useful.

Ibiza’s rocking True Rocks Jewellery

True-rocks-fashion-NT-160714

For those who have spent time on the White Isle, it goes without saying you most definitely will have seen a head-banging band at Ibiza Rocks, partied along side Idris Elba at Pikes @Ibiza Rocks House or even gasped at the legendary shows at Manumission (for those who remember ‘back in the day’). Well, the Ibiza royalty behind the brand – namely Dawn Hindleand friends – have created a stand-out jewellery range guaranteed to make any night out of catwalk calibre, called ‘True Rocks’. Their pieces have already graced the pages of Vogue and Grazia’s front cover, enjoying celebrity adornment from the likes of Lily Allen to Haim wearing pieces at Glastonbury, Ibiza Rocks and Party at The Serpentine this summer. The company only began in April 2014 and they have already collaborated with YBA artist Gavin Turk on what I’m sure will become their signature piece – ‘The Biscuit’ – (“Bitten” Rich Tea Biccie) Rumours are rife that this necklace is being worn by Idris at Pikes this Saturday. The menswear designer Oliver Spencer is also a keen biscuit wearer. It comes in solid silver, yellow gold plate , silver and rose gold plate and with a fine chain that’s 16 – 18 inches in length. They’ll also be making a limited edition of 10 in solid 18 carat rose and yellow gold to order. The edition number will be engraved on the back. The rest of the collection include safety pins, pills and other stunning pendants. So far, True Rocks can be found at Donna Ida and The Cross. I want a Biscuit! He Loved An Angel… from Essex to Ibiza!

fash-he-loved-an-angel-nt-160714

On my search for all things beach beautiful, bohemian and Ibiza – I discovered ‘He Loved An Angel’. Nicole Ivison-Hatch and Tony Dudley are the masterminds behind the label. Born and branded in 2009 with a store named ‘A Touch Too Wild’, they opened in leafy (and unjustifiably underrated) Essex. With East London vintage roots, they specialise in everything from beach wear to vintage concessions, showcasing labels from a United Nations of different locations. Their heavily embellished silk bohemian kaftans will be a dream on the beaches of Ibiza and Formentera, or anywhere in the Med for that matter. Beautiful kaftan shapes and boho vibes for the summer and a more edgy rock chic look for the winter with hints of Ossie Clark inspiration. These guys clearly have a love of all things from a bye gone era – be it the fashion, prints or cuts from the 60s and 70s. Nicole is also an obvious Jimi Hendrix fan as his track ‘Angels’ was not only her first ever vinyl purchase- but the inspiration behind the name of the label.
